Great Grand in the kitchen cooking yelling out, “Heyyyy Big M!”
You see our family Originates from Memphis, TN. South Side. Great Grand went to High School with members of The Bar-Kay’s who were Otis Redding’s band. Most of them perished in the crash that killed him.
My Summers were split between KC, Memphis and Augusta, AR. And every Fall I came back bit the hell up by mosquitoes. They a lil’ different in the South.
This Chicken Noodle Soup recipe has been in our family for generations. And it ain’t real chicken noodle soup unless it’s falling off the bone. Mother Dear’s words, not mine.
soulfood is really food that nourishes the mind, body, and soul not what causes further disruption.
Bone broth is healing extremely supplemental. And if your kids or Man doesn’t like teas, I suggest adding herbs into your cooking for healing.
Featured is Nettles, Thyme, Ginger, Turmeric, Rosemary, and Cayenne.
Recipe:
Ingredients:
Whole Cornish Hen/Chicken
1 to 1/2 pack Egg Noodles (large)
Water
Veggie Stock or Chicken Cubes
Y’all know I don’t measure seasonings I let Spirit and Mother Dear to guide me lol
The dried herbs I use are: Nettles, Cayenne, Turmeric, Ginger, Thyme, and RoseMary.
I love Cajun seasoning that I get from the spice shop in my local farmers market so I add some of it to this which is just me remixing lol.
Pepper a pinch of salt (not much and can use salt alternatives)
Directions: after thoroughly cleansing and hitting your chicken, and not with Dawn soap detergent, boil water, cubes or stock, and chicken on medium Heat. Add in herbs and spices to your hearts desire. I like mine to be saturated. You can never have too much Nettles and Rosemary. The taste is superb! Put your lid on. Stir and taste periodically to see if more seasoning needs to be added. With time the nutrients from the chicken bone will be added to the pot liquor.
It has a look to it. Just got to know what I mean lol.
Turn on some Otis Redding or Sam Cooke while cooking, thank me later.
Once the meat is tender and slightly falling off the bone add your egg noodles and put the lid back on. I usually let it cook for about 10 mins while stirring frequently. Don’t overlook the noodles.
Enjoy!
