Real Legends

Mother Dear was LEGENDARY in my eyes.

A drop out in the 3rd grade, taught herself how to read and write relocated from the south to the Midwest to help her daughter raise two children.

Bought a home here when it was unthinkable for a black woman to do so.

She helped raised generations of us to be strong, bold, and fearless in any type of adversity and opposition.

Always told me:

“No one else can stop or stand in the way of your blessings but you.”

“Fear nothing or NO ONE!”

“People who don’t know themselves will always attempt to bring you down.”

“Misery loves company.”

“Survival of the fittest.”

“Some people will argue with a Stop sign. Don’t fall for it.”

“Most of these folks don’t know their a*shole from a hole in the ground.”

“You are always covered and protected.”

“Don’t take sh*t from no one.”

“Greatest thing you have is your mind never lose it.”

I don’t mourn for Mother Dear because she always told us to give her her roses while she was here and never to mourn for her when she is gone.

I cried with her in those final moments of her life and she held me UP and told me her final lessons, “Ke be strong” and letting me know “ohhh weee” how beautiful I am and to be strong knowing it.

How I didn’t realize what was to come next I swear I feel like she knew and I know she knew what was coming next.

4 months later my Mother was murdered.

I have lost so many friends family since then to the afterlife and just to changes and I don’t regret a thing.

Everything happens for a reason.

I feel like I needed the separation to find my true self and my strength.

I used to be so dependent of feeling valued when I was surrounded by so many.

Let me say that true value ONLY comes from within.

I have never been more happy and proud of who I am than I am today.

I know right now so many folks are going through trials and tribulations and this is my message to you to keep fighting through this.

It will be a lonely road but don’t give up.

Everything is going to be just fine.

We never lose people.

Death is not final energy merely transmutes all around us and their energy lives on forever.
