It’s Cold, Flu, & RSV season.
Here’s the cold n flu cough n’ cold syrup that I make that is safe enough for toddlers and kids to drink.
Toddlers 1 to 2 teaspoons every 3 hours as needed.
Kids 2 tablespoons every 3 hours as needed.
ONION – (anti-viral, lowers body temperature, and expectorants for mucus in lungs)
FRESH GARLIC – anti-viral that kicks viruses out your body
SAGE – anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory for sore throats
THYME – antiviral, antibiotic, antimicrobial, & decongestant, expectorant and rejuvenate properties that help fight off or reduce the time you are laid up with a cold or flu
MULLEIN – lung tonic that expels mucus lodged within airways and lungs.
Lemon slices – Vitamin C
Directions :
- Bring pot of water to a boil, reduce heat then add in your fresh garlic, onions, and lemon slices and let simmer for five minutes.
TIP – SIMMER ON LOW WITH A LID TO KEEP ALL THE VOLATILE OILS IN THE POT!!!! THE STEAM IS THE MEDICINE AND YOU WANT THAT TO REMAIN IN THE POT!
- Add in herbs and simmer on low for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let sit for about 5 minutes.
- Strain liquid from the ingredients. Use cheesecloth or strainer. Or both. Your discretion.
- Add honey to taste.
This can be stored in your fridge for a week.
