Herbal Cough Syrup Recipe

It’s Cold, Flu, & RSV season.

Here’s the cold n flu cough n’ cold syrup that I make that is safe enough for toddlers and kids to drink.

Toddlers 1 to 2 teaspoons every 3 hours as needed.

Kids 2 tablespoons every 3 hours as needed.

ONION – (anti-viral, lowers body temperature, and expectorants for mucus in lungs)

FRESH GARLIC – anti-viral that kicks viruses out your body

SAGE – anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory for sore throats

THYME – antiviral, antibiotic, antimicrobial, & decongestant, expectorant and rejuvenate properties that help fight off or reduce the time you are laid up with a cold or flu

MULLEIN – lung tonic that expels mucus lodged within airways and lungs.

Lemon slices – Vitamin C

Directions :

  1. Bring pot of water to a boil, reduce heat then add in your fresh garlic, onions, and lemon slices and let simmer for five minutes.

TIP – SIMMER ON LOW WITH A LID TO KEEP ALL THE VOLATILE OILS IN THE POT!!!! THE STEAM IS THE MEDICINE AND YOU WANT THAT TO REMAIN IN THE POT!

  1. Add in herbs and simmer on low for 20 to 25 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and let sit for about 5 minutes.
  3. Strain liquid from the ingredients. Use cheesecloth or strainer. Or both. Your discretion.
  4. Add honey to taste.

This can be stored in your fridge for a week.
